An online auction comprising more than 100 lots of exclusive “money cannot buy” items across sport, art, food and wine, remarkable accommodation and one-off experiences has gone live.

It is part of an appeal which has already reached £1m to fund a dedicated state of the art cardio Magnetic Resonance Imaging (cMRI) scanner for the new Diagnostic Centre at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Topping the lots is a 25cm high bronze of the late Duke of Edinburgh’s favourite carriage driving pony Nevis, who pulled the empty carriage at Prince Philip’s funeral created by illustrious equine artist Charlie Langton as a commission for the Royal Family.

There are 15 holiday houses, that sleep from two to 16, in places from Austria to Aldeburgh, a framed drawing by Sir Anthony Gormley, an original cartoon by Matt, and very special tickets to Glyndebourne, Covent Garden and the opera in Venice plus the chance to be racehorse owner for a day.

The lots have been secured by friends of the late consultant cardiologist Dr Iain Brooksby, former medical director of NNUH and chair of the Norfolk Heart Trust (NHT).

The auction forms part of a two-stage memorial event chaired by Dr Brooksby's close friend, Jonathan Ellis, comprising a golf day and dinner supported by and held at Barnham Broom in mid-September.

Mr Ellis said: “There is something for everyone here and a wonderful opportunity to treat yourself or a loved one, while helping us smash the target. And of course, it is never too early to buy a Christmas gift.”

Bidding on the online auction concludes on September 15 following the Norfolk Heart Trust Golf Day. In addition, a live auction of exceptional lots will take place at the Iain Brooksby Memorial Dinner at Barnham Broom on September 14.
