An adventurous trio completed a European fundraising quest for Macmillan Cancer Support in a cartoon-inspired car.
Norwich taxi driver Andrew Vanderahe, 50, his son Danny and friend Craig Tong, both 26, from North Walsham, took part in the Monte Carlo or Bust Banger Rally Adventure from Belgium to Monte Carlo.
To join the rally the team had to buy a car for £250 or less, and their vehicle of choice was a 1997 Volvo S40 with 186,000 miles on the clock which they decorated as the Buzz Wagon from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series Wacky Races. And to complete the Wacky Races theme, Mr Vanderahe senior wore a Rufus Ruffcut outfit while both the others donned Sawtooth the beaver costumes.
The trio – who named themselves Team ACiD after their first name initials – left Norwich on Thursday to start the rally in Namur, Belgium, later that day alongside about 80 other old cars. They took the Black Forest Gateau route which saw them go through Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France before crossing the rally's finish line in Monte Carlo on Sunday.
Danny said: 'It has been a fantastic weekend. We hope to have raised £1,300.'
