A string of road closures are looming because of the continuing work on the Norwich Northern Distributor Road.

Council bosses have said the current closures of Salhouse Road, to complete the NDR roundabout, and Drayton Lane South (between Reepham Road and Drayton Hall Lane) are likely to remain in place.

There had been hopes for earlier openings of the roads, but Norfolk County Council bosses have said they are now likely to remain shut for the rest of the week.

And there will be a string of further closures, while work on the £178.5m road, which will stretch from the A47 at Postwick to the A1067 Fakenham Road, continues.

Green Lane West, Rackheath, will be closed between the A1151 Wroxham Road and Rackheath Industrial Estate (Wendover Road) for the weekends of June 3/4 and June 10/11 to tie in the Green Lane West end of the link road to the realigned junction with Wroxham Road.

The B1150 North Walsham Road will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) between Beeston Lane and Crostwick Lane for one week from Monday, July 10 to complete the NDR roundabout.

Buxton Road, Spixworth, will be closed for two weeks from Monday, July 17 to complete the bridge and tie-in to the existing road.

Holly Lane, Horsford, will close on Monday, July 3 when Drayton Lane is ready to provide an alternative route between the B1149 Holt Road and Reepham Road.

The B1149 Holt Road will then close south of Horsford on Monday, July 17, with traffic re-routed along the realigned New Drayton Lane to Reepham Road (until the NDR provides a route back to the A140 Cromer Road).

The A140 Cromer Road will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) between the Holt Road roundabout and Church Street junctions for two weeks from Monday, September 4.

And the A1151 Wroxham Road will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) between Beeston Lane and Green Lane West for two weeks from Monday, September 18.

Meanwhile, two-way traffic lights will be in use from 9.30am tomorrow on the A1151 Wroxham Road between Sloe Lane and Green Lane West.

Those lights will remain in place 24 hours a day until 9.30am on Saturday morning at the latest.

The council said that traffic control is needed while work, including kerb construction, is carried out at the realigned Green Lane West junction.
