Residents are being asked for their comments on traffic related issues in the centre of Bungay and outlying areas.

It follows a rise in complaints about speeding and anti-social behaviour in vehicles.

And Bungay Town Council will be hosting an extended surgery tomorrow at St Mary's Church to help compile a database of complaints and concerns. They will then be collated into specific themes and passed on to the relevant authorities or agencies for the town council to work with to further investigate and implement possible action.

Bungay mayor John Groom said: 'Through our monthly council surgeries, and representations made to individual councillors, there are an increasing number of concerns that are being raised by residents in the town. Most of the concerns are focused around anti-social behaviour in vehicles, excess speed and noise, although we have also been contacted about illegal and inconsiderate parking, HGVs ignoring the weight restrictions, road and pavement conditions and street signage.'

Anyone who lives in Bungay, works there or visits the town on a regular basis is being invited along to voice their concerns.

The special surgery will run from 10.30am to noon, alongside the normal monthly council surgery where councillors Jane Paul and Judy Cloke will be available to discuss residents' general enquiries.

The council can also be contacted via a dedicated email address - bungay.traffic@bungaytowncouncil.gov.uk - or you can post comments to council clerk Peter Morrow at 11 Wharton Street, Bungay, NR35 1EL.

Mr Groom said: 'The initiative will run until the end of January and we would request that any comments are received by this date. All comments will be treated confidentially, but, if you do require feedback, we would need your contact details.

'We will of course still be running our monthly council surgeries on the first Saturday of the month at St Mary's Church where you can drop in, without the need for an appointment, and let us know what's concerning you within the town, we will always do our best to help or steer you in the right direction for assistance.'
