Norwich Film Festival has welcomed an Absolutely Fabulous guest during the event's final weekend.
Actress Jane Horrocks, who played the quirky character Bubble in the BBC comedy series and whose many films include Little Voice and Life is Sweet, paid a visit to the city to take part in an In Conversation event at The Forum on Saturday.
Ahead of taking to the stage, she spoke of how important events such as Norwich Film Festival were in encouraging the next generation of filmmakers.
She said: 'People are becoming much more creative now about how to finance films and they don't have to be such a big deal, people shoot films now on their iPhones, it's encouraging people to explore different ways of making film which is a really good thing, and then to have them at a forum like this for them to show their films is brilliant, where a wider audience can see them.'
Throughout her career, Ms Horrocks has worked across stage, television and film, with both Absolutely Fabulous and the play The Rise and Fall of Little Voice - for which Ms Horrocks was nominated for an Olivier Award - being made into films.
'It wasn't a massive transition because I was so familiar with those two roles (Bubble and Little Voice) that it felt like I'm at home in those characters anyway whatever medium to be honest,' she said.
'It's always nice when you have something immortalised, particularly with something like Little Voice which was very special for me.'
When asked asked about her highlights of working on Absolutely Fabulous alongside Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, she said: 'Working with all the Js! And Jennifer Saunders' writing, it usually always boils down to the writing, if the writing is good that is what makes it special.
'One of my favourite Bubble moments was when Minnie Driver was in it and my character was very derogatory about Minnie Driver, which she took in very good humour!
'I think one of my favourite Bubble costumes was the Teletubby outfit, I really liked her as a Teletubby!'
And while her trip to Norwich was just a fleeting one for the festival, Ms Horrocks said she hopes to be back.
'It's great to be in Norfolk and I wish I had more time to spend looking around because Norwich is a great city,' she said, adding that she has previously enjoyed spending time in Burnham Market and Holkham in north Norfolk.
'It's a beautiful part of the world.'
Norwich Film Festival is now in its seventh year and it kicked off on November 9 with an In Conversation event with Michael Palin and a screening of his 1984 film A Private Function at Open.
The 2017 festival, which finishes tomorrow (Sunday, November 19), has this year presented a unique mix of 95 short films and five feature films.
