Budding actors will be appearing in a new performance tackling issues facing young people at this summer's Latitude Festival.

East Anglian-based Second Side Theatre Company is putting on an original piece of theatre at the popular festival on Henham Park, near Southwold, from July 13-16.

The play will be part of Culture Works East's creative and media activities in the Inbetweeners Teen Arena and is aimed at children and teenagers aged 12-17-years-old.

It promises to be thought-provoking and entertaining and will explore experiences of young people currently living in Britain.

Second Side Theatre Company was set up in 2009 and aims to work with young people wishing to pursue professional careers in the arts.

Ade Slack, creative director of Second Side Theatre Company, said: 'This is the third year in a row we are taking a performance to Latitude Festival. What has impressed us in the past is young actors who want to work in the industry coming together and rehearsing a piece of theatre.'

Elli Chapman, artistic director of Culture Works East, said: 'We are really excited about welcoming Second Side Theatre Company back to the Inbetweeners Stage at Latitude Festival 2017.

'Not only I am excited about seeing the work they create, which will be performed daily on the Inbetweeners Area stage which we deliver in partnership with Access To Music, but also to see the progression the young performers make during and after the opportunity.'

Sharon Reuben, curator of the children's family and school programme at Latitude Festival, said

'I'm proud that with an area dedicated to teens, Latitude continues to offer opportunities for young artists to develop their talent, and for teen audiences to expand their experiences and explore their own creativity, both at the festival and beyond.'

Latitude Festival started 12 years ago and headliners at this summer's event include The 1975, Mumford and Sons and Fleet Foxes.

More than 30,000 people are expected to visit this year's festival.

The festival also includes stand-up comedy, dance, and poetry readings.
