A new circus theatre show created in Great Yarmouth is set to make its debut to local audiences to close a successful national tour.

Rise is the latest creation from Dizzy O'Dare, made up of partners, Mike Imerson and Alana Jones, and brings together tight wire, live music, theatre and comedy in a touching performance about the complexity of relationships.

The show was created at The Drill House in Great Yarmouth and produced by SeaChange Arts, the arts organisation who work with artists and companies to produce high quality indoor and outdoor circus and street arts works, who are based at the venue.

Combining tight-wire, live music, theatre and Dizzy O'Dare's own surreal, eclectic style, Rise wanders into a twilight world of show business, where lovers meet against a dream-like backdrop of song, circus, cabaret and the silver screen.

At times, semi-autobiographical, it is a light-hearted exploration of Mike and Alana's own experiences of working as performers and living together as a couple.

They relocated to Norfolk from Kent, to work closely with SeaChange to develop both their work and the programme of activities at the venue.

The show has been developed as part of Coaster Touring Network, a SeaChange led partnership that aims to support cultural economies of seaside towns by touring world class circus and street arts shows.

As part of the creation process for the show, Dizzy O'Dare worked with around 20 local young people on clowning and tight wire workshops and provided free work-in-progress showings to local audiences.

But now there is the chance to see the full finished thing when the show returns to Great Yarmouth as the finale of a six date national tour that has taken it to London, Worthing, Weston-Super-Mare and Chatham in Kent.

'It's really exciting to close the tour of Rise in Great Yarmouth,' said Alana Jones. 'We feel as though local people have been involved with the process from the very beginning and to perform the finished show back at The Drill House will be a great experience.'

• Dizzy O'Dare's Rise takes place at The Drill House, Great Yarmouth, on October 21, 7.30pm. Tickets are pay-what-you-can from £12-£3 and are available at seachangearts.org.uk
