Some of the biggest names in modern parenting are coming to Norwich, thanks to a mum's career change.

When mum-of-two Emma Victor-Smith realised there were lots of fun events, aimed at women like her, that she was not able to get to, she did not waste energy complaining. Instead she set up a business aimed at getting the events to come to her.

Her company, called We Got This (Sometimes!) is attracting big names to Norfolk and has spread as far afield as London and Belfast.

The comedy theatre show it is bringing to Norwich this month is sold out and its programme of events for the next few weeks includes parenting speakers and a fashion evening.

It was after having her second baby, that Emma found juggling home, life and her job as a brand manager became particularly challenging. 'It is very, very stressful finding work that suits the school runs and the demands of trying to be a good mum/wife/daughter/friend etc!' said 37-year-old Emma, of Hethersett, near Norwich. 'Mums don't want to work any less hard but they genuinely need flexibility so they can cope when their child is poorly, and just to get them to childcare and back.'

She noticed lots of parents sharing their experiences of events aimed at modern mums on social media.

Unable to get to them herself, We Got This (Sometimes!) brings speakers, workshops, comedy and get-togethers to entertain and inspire fellow East Anglian parents.

'There has been an incredible response to this idea from mums,' said Emma. 'I hope it will help parents like me carve out a bit of time to do the things they love as well as enjoy family life.

'Parents are looking for time out and the support of like-

minded parents and it is so exciting to collaborating with all kinds of different brands, people and businesses!

'I like the ethos behind encouraging women to try a side hustle as it means they can use the skills they learnt already in their careers, learn new skills and be passionate about what they are doing, and then the mums coming to events should be inspired too. 'The aim is to inspire and entertain mums.'

The first speaker was mum, blogger and author Katie Kirby of Hurrah for Gin.

Now the next event is Busting the Supermum Myth, on Friday, January 19, led by Anya Hayes, author of The Supermum Myth.

Emma is a big fan of Anya's book, saying it has made her brain clearer and her household happier.

When she surveyed fellow mums she discovered that they particularly wanted parenting advice and time for themselves. 'This event offers both,' said Emma.

She said it will take mums through a 'motherhood mental wellbeing toolkit,' looking at relationships, sense of self, career, and self-esteem.

The daytime event includes an option to have a picture taken by Emily Gray Photography, hand massages, hair braiding, a goody bag and more. 'It aims to give mothers tips to make mothering easier, in the luxury environment of The Walnut Room at St Giles House Hotel in Norwich,' said Emma.

And then, on Wednesday, January 31, The Scummy Mummies will be appearing at a sell-out performance at Norwich Playhouse.

The evening with comedians Helen Thorn

and Ellie Gibson will cover parenting from pelvic floors to play-dates and includes songs, sketches and stand-up for mums and dads. And it has been so popular that Emily is hoping to add a second date.

On Friday, February 23, fashion editor Erica Davies and magazine editor Ciara Elliott bring their preloved fashion event, Fashion Re:boot, to the Narthex at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Norwich. It promises stalls styled with pre-loved fashion, plus crafts, nibbles, drinks and a party atmosphere.

And on Tuesday, March 6, Vickie Neave of the bog Inpo (in no particular order) will talk about building a family-friendly business.
