Taking more exercise, drinking less alcohol, eating more fruit and vegetables – we all know what we're supposed to do to look after ourselves.

Eastern Daily Press:

But the One You campaign knows that making changes can be difficult and highlights how even tiny changes can make a difference.

Whether that's swapping one alcoholic drink for an alcohol-free drink or walking up rather than standing still on an escalator, every healthier choice helps.

For everyone feeling sluggish and feeling their health is suffering, or thinking of making some New Year resolutions that will stick and make some difference to their life, the One You campaign will help.

Over the next four weeks the EDP will be supporting you with the One You campaign from Norfolk County Council.

Dr Louise Smith, director of Public Health with Norfolk County Council, says: 'This is a great time to make those small changes to your life that will have a big impact on your health in later years. Taking simple steps now can double your chance of being healthy at 70 and beyond.'

Every week next month in the EDP we will be exploring the local One You campaign, discovering how to take steps to be healthier.

One You sets out to help everyone move more, eat well, drink less alcohol and stop smoking. It will also provide information to help you feel less stressed and sleep better.

One You knows it's not easy to make healthy choices, with many of us having to sit for eight hours a day at work and then drive home. One You is designed to help every person find out whether they could make healthier choices and support them with personalised tools and advice.

So people who know they need to drink less alcohol will be pointed towards a drinks tracker app and given practical suggestions to cut back. Smokers have information tailored for them and people who could improve their diet have tips, advice and meal suggestions.

The campaign highlights that it's not just us who depend on our health, it may also be our partners, our children, our parents, our pets, our brothers and sisters and our friends.

Looking after ourselves helps us – and them.

Take the free One You health quiz 'How are You' to get personalised recommendations on how to start the fight back to a healthier you. See what tools and offers One You suggest to help you change. To take the quiz, and for more information, click here.
