Horticulturists, designers and florists alike pulled out all the stops to create beautiful bouquets and astonishing show gardens.

James Debbage, owner of Green Pastures Garden Centre, said: 'We wanted our show garden to look like a really established garden in Norfolk. Quite often we find that in the local landscape we have a lot of dry soil and very sunny spots, so we sell a lot of Achillea because they do really well in sunny spots and they're lovely floral plants.

'Hostas also do really well but in shadier spots in Norfolk, I love the June species because of the contrast on their leaves. But you have to be careful because slugs really like eating these.

Mr Debbage and his wife Michelle won a gold prize for their show garden.

'We're really pleased,' he said. 'It's just a pat on the back for all the guys at the garden centre. They've been waiting by the phone all morning to see how it went.'
