The Northern Distributor Road is truly the road to nowhere. A few miles away from where the NDR terminates is in the middle of nowhere.

The most significant factor about the Northern Distributor Road is that the only thing it doesn't provide is what was most needed, a link between the A47 and A11 and Norwich Airport and the A140 Cromer Road.

MORE: New link road opened as NDR team aims for March 2018 completionThe planners seemed to have been determined to make access to the NDR as difficult as possible for people from the Costessey and Taverham area to gain access to the new road by necessitating either having to take a roundabout route to gain access at the busy airport junction or go back on themselves to gain access by the little used Reepham Road and surrounding lanes, in some cases past schools.

MORE: NDR work can continue after BT allows cable removal projectIt will serve those right who unreasonably fought against the link and a rather nice Wensum Bridge when their lanes are filled with lost souls who are suddenly turfed off the road to nowhere to add to those who already have to find a way on narrow twisting rat runs which already create a very dangerous scenario.

The parochial inhabitants of Ringland and the surrounding area who failed to prevent the NDR terminating close to the Wensum, indicating the intention to force a route across the river in due course, may live to regret their intransigence.
