One of our readers is not in favour of removing bushes and shrubs from around the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in order to increase parking facilities.

Parking has always been a problem at the hospital but that is no reason to remove every bit of greenery on the site and replace it with concrete. I really think the welfare of those who are in hospital should come first.

Many patients are very ill, some terminally, and I know from personal experience that it means a great deal to them to be able to get out of the hospital and to walk in the garden, sit on the grass and listen to the birds.

Surely this is more important than the creation of a few more parking spaces?
