The highly debated issue of where Cromer's next housing development will be has taken another turn, as both planning applicants have launched websites to receive feedback from the local community.

The community has been divided ever since both plans were unveiled, which saw two rival landowners bidding to build 300 new homes and a sports facility on the outskirts of Cromer.

The first plan will see 300 homes and football pitches built on land near the Norwich Road, built by Northrepps farmer Michael Gurney.

The second plan could see 300 homes built off the Roughton Road, as well as a Dementia friendly care home, football pitches, a sports hub and a shop.

The public are being invited to leave feedback on the Norwich Road development by commenting on the planner's website.

Those who have comments on the Roughton Road proposal can leave their comments on the New Cabbell Park website. The debate has slowly become more heated as homeowners near both areas have voiced their concerns.

'This has divided the community,' said Ann Coe, a Compit Hills homeowner. 'Everyone's saying 'not in my back yard' and it's just causing so much tension and friction in the town.'

At a Cromer Town Council meeting, another resident questioned whether the houses even needed to be near Cromer.

'North Norfolk needs affordable housing, but does it need to be in Cromer where our services are already stretched? North Norfolk is gaining a facility, but at the expense of Cromer,' one member of the public concluded.
