Controversial plans to demolish Cromer's old police station and courthouse to build 35 apartments for older people will be unveiled at a public exhibition on October 4.

Developer McCarthy and Stone will show the preliminary proposals to redevelop the Holt Road site at the event at the parish hall on Church Street on Thursday October 4 from 3.30pm to 7pm.

The buildings have been redundant since the police station and courthouse closed at the end of March 2011.

A bid to turn it into a youth facility call The Nick Project was unsuccessful because campaigners ran out of time to raise the money needed for the site.

A spokesman for McCarthy and Stone said: 'We want to hear from our future home-owners and the local community before we submit a planning application and will be displaying our plans at the exhibition.

'Our project team will be at the exhibition to answer questions and listen to feedback about our plans so far.'

He added: 'The comments we receive will help us tailor our proposals into something people will want to see, enjoy and call home.'
