A planning blueprint for new growth in South Norfolk took a step forward today with the start of another round of public consultation.

Residents are being asked for their views on where thousands of new homes should be built in the district after South Norfolk Council planning officials whittled down a list of 1,500 proposed sites for development to 150.

A new round of public consultation, where people can have their say on preferred site allocations and development boundaries, began today and will run until October 26. A series of exhibitions will also be held.

More than 11,000 comments have already been sent to the local authority over the last two years and the latest round of consultation is the last before a planning inspector reviews the district council's proposals next year.

The site specific document earmarks 1,226 new homes across four sites in Hethersett, 552 new homes for Poringland and Framingham Earl, 500 for Costessey and 170 in Mulbarton.

Area action plans are being drawn up for Wymondham, which is set to receive 2,200 new homes by 2026 Long Stratton, which is earmarked for 1,800 homes and a long-awaited relief road and Cringleford, which is set to expand by 1,200 homes.

The development plan also includes 900 new homes to the south and east of Easton and to create a new village centre, a Norfolk food and farming hub at Easton and new employment opportunities at Longwater in Costessey, Hethel near Wymondham, and a science park at Colney.
