Del Boy was among the fancy dress characters who turned out in force for the Mundesley Boxing day swim.

And organisers were hoping the good turnout of dippers and spectators on a sunny morning would provide a 'cushti' collection to be shared between the village lifeboat and the infants school.

The swim has been happening for more than 30 years as helps keep the independently run lifeboat station afloat.

It needs about 30,000 a year to operate, which mostly comes from its lifeboat charity shop in the village - with other help from the swim, which raised 622 this year, lifeboat day in the summer and pantomime in February.

Chairman Nick Alexander said the station, which has a new higher-tech boat, typically had about 10 shouts a year to swimmers, inflatable users drifting out to sea and windsurfers in trouble.

The well-attended swim saw fancy dress outfits ranging form a big yellow Honey Monster (Peter Evans) and Captain Jack pirate (Jeremiah Williamson) to three blind mice (Val Beales, Ronnie Fuller and Carol Cooke from the Haig Club) Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter, alias Rob Halsey from Bacton who was setting about his first ever dip in a full face mask, trench coat and cigar.

Del Boy was the winner of the adult fancy dress, while Jack Hudson won the junior section. Del Boy's alter ego Mr Halsey has been asked to contact Jan Francis on 01263 720574 to organise collecting his prize.
