In the scheme the students created a company - which they called Altair - and set out to design and manufacture an original clothing line, creating an identifiable brand called Vendetta London.

The company will go onto represent Norfolk at an East of England final in Cambridge.

Marland Barsby, who was part of the company, said: 'Team Altair are delighted to have won the Norfolk round of Young Enterprise 2017, and our success thus far can be accredited to the hard work of every member of the company.'

Teammate Callum Mccormick said: 'We are looking forward to taking our brand, Vendetta London, to Cambridge for the regional finals.'

Stewart Bethell from Cambridge-based infrastructure firm Mouchel Group served as the students' business mentor.

The programme is aimed at 15 to 19-year-olds and gives them the chance to set up and run businesses for an academic year.

Hilary Ledger, young enterprise manager, said: 'We had some great companies set up by students in Norfolk this year and the judges were incredibly impressed with the products and services they had developed and the presentations they gave at the awards.

'The awards highlighted how the Young Enterprise Company Programme can inspire young people to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and help them develop practical business skills while they are still at school. I would like to congratulate all the students from Norfolk who took part in the programme this year and for their hard work and determination.'

Michael Mercieca, chief executive of Young Enterprise, said the programme was a great opportunity for young people.

He said: 'The company programme is a great platform for students to develop their skills such as confidence, teamwork and resilience and interact with their local business community along the way.'

Other finalists included teams from Norwich High School for Girls, Norwich School, Sewell Park Academy, Norwich High School for Girls and Notre Dame High School.
