A group of residents in Hemsby have resolved to set up a committee to call on the owners of the former Pontins to clean up the vast site.

At a public meeting held at The Bell pub, nearly 20 villagers voiced their concerns about a recent spate of arson attacks.

The meeting was chaired by Kim Mcadoo who said she had had enough of the vandalism at the site.

Another meeting will be held to decide the remit of the committee, but those at Monday night's meeting said they would print posters to display around the village and write to Northern Trust, the owner's of the site.

The 22 acre site has fallen into a state of disrepair in the nine years since Pontins closed.

In its heyday, the Pontins holiday camp at Hemsby housed tens of thousands of holidaymakers during the season.

Then at the end of 2008, staff were given just 48 hours notice to leave when the camp closed suddenly.

The site's 50 plus buildings have since fallen into disrepair and have become a target for vandals and arsonists alike.
