A micro-brewery has collected a clutch of medals for the taste of its beers at an international competition.

St Peter's Brewery, based in Bungay, won a gold medal for its Cream Stout, a silver for its Old Style Porter and bronze awards for it Black IPA, Golden Ale and India Pale Ale at the Global Beer Masters.

The contest sees beer sommeliers taste the ales in a blind test. The awards are now entered by some 1,700 brewers up from just 250 in the 1990s.

Steve Magnall, chief executive at St Peter's, said: 'We have a dedicated team who work incredibly hard to ensure we produce only the best quality beers so winning five medals in this competition is testament to their skill and on-going efforts. The craft brewing industry is hugely competitive so awards such as the Global Beer Masters allow us to stand out in a crowded market place and prove that we are creating some of the best beers in the world.'
