A coastal pub has closed after the company behind it went into liquidation, following a period of tough trading.

The Queen Victoria in Snettisham, near Hunstanton, closed just before Christmas with the liquidator citing a downturn in trade and pressure from rents and rates as the cause of the problems of its parent firm Coastal Leisure (Snettisham).

Liquidator Nick Cusack, of restructuring firm Parker Andrews, said: 'Unfortunately the business encountered a downturn in trade while struggling to cope with ever increasing rent and rates liabilities.'

He added the pub could reopen in coming weeks as negotiations were ongoing with the landlord.

As well as a bar and restaurant, which made use of local produce, the Lynn Road-pub operated five caravan pitches and several motel-style bedrooms for visitors to the West Norfolk coast and the nearby Sandringham estate.
