Norwich and Peterborough Building Society's future sponsorship relationship with Norwich City 'remains under review', despite the chain's plans to rebrand by the start of next season.

The N&P name - which was on the shirt during some of the Canaries greatest triumphs - is set to disappear from high streets by September as its owner brings it under the Yorkshire Building Society brand.

It has also sponsored the Norwich and Peterborough stand at the River End at Carrow Road since the 1990s, under a commercial agreement due to end this season, but a spokesman for the building society said it had not definitively decided against renewing the relationship.

He would not be drawn on whether that would be under the N&P name or the rebranded Yorkshire Building Society.

The building society also provides the Canary Saver account to some 6,000 fans, who receive a discount on their N&P stand season ticket and entry into prize draws.

'Our sponsorship of Norwich City FC, including the Canary Saver account, remains under review,' said the spokesman.

'Under the terms of the existing agreement, the club has been free to negotiate with potential sponsors since the start of 2017. We remain in contact with the club and will confirm our plans to them, our customers and supporters as soon as a decision is made.'

Norwich City confirmed in January that the sponsorship deal ran until the end of the season and that all financial obligations had been met.
