The managing director of an arm of Naked Wines' owner is to quit the group.

Majestic Wine has announced that John Colley, managing director of Majestic Retail has decided to step down in order to take a role closer to his young children in the South of England.

Chief executive Rowan Gormley, founder of Norwich-based Naked Wines, will add the role to his other responsibilities. Majestic said the retail and commercial board would continue to run the division with no other management changes. EDP/EADT Top 100 firm Naked Wines and Suffolk-based Lay and Wheeler will continue to report to Mr Gormley.

Mr Gormley thanked Mr Colley for his contribution. He said: 'For the first time in many years Majestic is organically growing sales and our job is now to accelerate that by building our customer base through loyalty. This is exactly what gets me excited and what I love doing so it's a perfect time for me to get more involved.'
