A senior partner at Norfolk law firm Hansells has left the firm amid an investigation into 'financial irregularities'.
Hugh Lansdell, who was appointed senior partner at the firm based in The Close in Norwich in 2013, was initially suspended in August.
He then left the firm permanently earlier this month after the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) was brought in to investigate the financial irregularities, Hansells said in a statement.
It is understood the irregularities relate to clients' money, but the investigation is still in its early stages.
The partners of Hansells said: 'We requested assistance in August from the SRA, an independent body which oversees the legal profession, relating to financial irregularities.
'Hugh Lansdell ceased to be a partner in the firm on September 4.
'We have been working with the SRA to make sure the matter is properly investigated.
'No client will suffer any loss. Hansells is committed to providing all of its clients with expert legal advice.'
Mr Lansdell was in the conveyancing and agriculture teams. According to the Good Lawyer Guide he has been a solicitor for 42 years.
He was also in charge of corporate fundraising at the Rotary Club of Aylsham last year and is also the fabric officer in the parish of Gresham.
Mr Lansdell confirmed he had left but as an investigation was ongoing was unable to comment further.
The SRA, which is leading the investigation, declined to comment.
Hansells, which was founded in 1827, now has three offices in Norwich as well as in Aylsham, Cromer, North Walsham, Reepham, Sheringham and Wymondham.
Hansells sponsors events and sports teams across Norfolk.
