Great Yarmouth companies’ merger creates IT support powerhouse for region

CSS Computers and Cloud Computer Services will merge next month, bringing together their directors' combined three decades of experience in the IT support industry.

The newly-formed CSSCloud Computer Services will have a combined turnover of £1.5m and a pool of at least 14 technicians, currently supporting 220 servers.

Peter Green has run CSS Computers, on North Quay, for 28 years. He said: 'As a result of this merger we have a significant resource pool that will allow us to target larger clients in the future while continuing to support our existing customers.

'The merger will undoubtedly provide new jobs and create another Great Yarmouth success story.

'We have had really positive reactions from both staff and customers alike, who I think understand the value of being part of a larger company. We are incredibly excited about the future.'

While the companies are due to officially merge on July 1, customers are not set to see any day-to-day changes until October when CSS Computers will leave its premises on North Quay and join Cloud Computer Services on the Gapton Hall Industrial Estate.

With the merger will come an expansion of geographical reach, as far south as Felixstowe, west to King's Lynn and north to Cromer and Sheringham.

Both companies bring extra assets to the new partnership, such as CSS Computers' Sage Support Centre and Cloud Computer Services' retail arm, Just Repair It.

Managing director of Cloud Computer Services Kevin Miller, who has run the firm since 2009, said the decision was a 'no-brainer'.

'With both companies sharing the same ethos and competing in such close proximity, it felt logical to join forces. By combining our resources we're able to offer support at a greater scale than before,' he said.

The deal has been welcomed by Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, which said it would work with the newly merged company 'to help support local businesses and drive economic growth and jobs in the town'.
