An annual competition to celebrate Norfolk's finest farming enterprises is open for entries.

The 38th annual Norfolk County Farm Business Competition, organised by the Aylsham Agricultural Show Association, will bring judges from Suffolk, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Cumbria to run the rule over farming companies of all types and sizes.

Among the many award categories will be the coveted Championship Class, open to all the champion and reserve champions in each class in the previous year.

Last year, the top prize was won by Chapman Farms, based in Martham, near Great Yarmouth.

All competitors must be members of the Aylsham Agricultural Show Association and the competition is open to occupiers of farms whose main homestead or 60pc of the total land farmed must be within the county of Norfolk.

Judges will be asked to assess the farm's standards of cropping and livestock husbandry, and marks are also awarded for maintenance and approach to the environment.

Special trophies on offer include the Jubilee Cup for the Best Livestock Enterprise within the championship class, the Stuart Chapman Bowl for the best non-farming diversification and the Challenge Cup for the best Norfolk County Council Farm.

Entries close by Friday June 2, and the judging period is between June 19 and 20. For more details and entry forms, click here.
