Growing veterinary group CVS has snapped up another chain of practices in the south-west.

The Diss-based group acquired B&W Equine Veterinary Group in Gloucestershire, which operates a hospital and three practices, employing more than 100 staff.

B&W is the largest specialist equine veterinary group in the South West and reported revenues of £6m in the year to February 28.

The move will bolster CVS's equine division, which has grown substantially over the last 18 months and now stands at 32 sites across the UK.

Simon Innes, chief executive of CVS, said: 'The team at B&W bring enormous expertise to the CVS equine group, and we are thrilled to have them join us, particularly as we are growing so rapidly in our equine division.'

Momentum Corporate Finance advised the shareholders of B&W on the sale.

Ian Camm, managing director of B&W, said: 'We are excited about life under CVS' ownership. While we are familiar with acquiring smaller veterinary practices, the B&W shareholders had not experienced a sale process before.

'As such, it was imperative that we had an experienced corporate finance adviser to guide us through the process and Momentum's advice and expertise was invaluable.'

CVS Group was the winner of the Top100 Accelerator award at the EDP Business Awards in 2016.
