Twelve jobs are to be lost at fashion chain Jaeger's Norfolk distribution centre following the company's collapse.

Administrators AlixPartners announced the redundancies at the King's Lynn facility alongside 32 job losses at the company's head office, with a further 165 jobs set to go with the closure of 20 stores, including in Cambridge.

The solicitors were appointed last week after attempts by the company's private equity owner to sell the business failed.

A spokesman for AlixPartners said the decision to close some stores had been 'difficult but necessary'.

'Following consultation with all appropriate stakeholders it has become apparent that the operating costs of a number of stores are financially unviable given the company's difficulties.'

He added: 'We would like to go on record to express thanks for the commitment and professionalism shown to date by Jaeger staff.'
