Internationally-acclaimed Carlos Bonell is staging a charity concert at Lammas later this month, raising money for the parish church.

Carlos is renowned for his classical repertoire, but he has just released a new CD recording of Beatles hits, which is a follow up to an early album of Queen hits.

Queen star Brian May describes Carlos as “a masterful classical-style” guitarist, and Sir Paul McCartney has praised him for being able to play an intricate Bach piece which he could not.

Carlos will play at St Andrew’s Church in Lammas from 7.30pm on Saturday October 20. The proceeds will help towards church running costs.

Churchwarden Georgie Graver said: “We are thrilled that Carlos has agreed to come and play in our church once again. He is a friend to the village and when he played two years’ ago we were awestruck at just how much music could flow from one guitar and one very talented man.”

Fellow churchwarden Major John Perkins added: “Lammas is so very lucky to have a friend like Carlos. He is a very busy man with an international schedule yet he is kind enough to spend an evening in our little village to help us. Tickets are £12.50 from Mrs Georgie Graver on 01603 279682.
