The opening of Jamie’s Italian, in Norwich’s Royal Arcade, has been highly-anticipated in the city and we want to know what early customers think of the new restaurant.

It is understood that there are still unreserved tables available for walk-in customers tonight, for those not among the lucky few to get an opening-night table.

  • Absolutely no vegan options on the menu though they say they can cater if given warning and a little haggling on the day no doubt! They put egg in the pasta which is a shame as there is nothing simpler than pasta and tomato sauce. Also no pizzas at all, very odd for Italian and certainly Pizza Express can cater for vegans from the menu! Come on Jamie try a bit harder, your telly shows often provide vegan options!

  • Jamie's Italian was just what you should expect from a well known chef and entrepeneur. I visited the Monday of the opening weekend, and the food was excellent and "not" overly priced, (I have been charged worse in other establishments around the city and surrounding areas), the staff were very good and actually pleased to be there, service was topclass. Yes the wine was a bit pricey but I would highly recommend the Sicilian Shiraz. Lovely surroundings and ambience, well worth a visit. Look out the rest of Norwich's restaurants you have somewhere to emulate and be compared against.

  • I wonder what the lasagne is like!? I can't wait to find out! With a side of chips and garlic bread and a glass of ice cold tap water ... Mmmmm indeed. Regards, Whiley.

  • Whether it's fine dining or a meal in a spoons pub, it's another restaurant giving more choice as to where one would prefer to dine and enjoy a meal out with friends or family

  • Tell you what, it will be just fine. We have been to other Oliver outlets and it is just what most of us look for...reliable,predictable,enjoyable..rather than looking through the window and wondering 'shall we risk it?' Just like 'Pizza Express' So JO had not seen this place until last week but I bet it will breath something back into the city centre away from the souless mayhem of Pow Rd and Riverside.
