The sun shone for local, national and international performers and some 2,000 music lovers at the increasingly popular Reepham12 festival this weekend.

It took place today (Sunday) and yesterday and the line-up included rock, pop, metal, acoustic and classical music, which was performed across the town.

Visitors to the event, which is in its fifth year, came from as far as Scotland, Manchester, Yorkshire and Southampton.

Just over 2,000 people enjoyed the festival, which was held at Rookery Meadow, Jan’s Garden, St Michael’s Church and the Whitwell and Reepham Railway Station.

Steve Jenkins, festival director, said: “It is a festival for everyone which is affordable. The public loved it and so did the bands.

“It is gaining in stature and seems to be on the festival route now. We don’t want to lose its intimate, family nature. There are so many festivals going down now and we want to keep the Reepham festival affordable and family friendly.

“There is genuinely something for everyone. It is about different community groups coming together.”

Some 17 bands performed and the headliners were Ex Simple Minds, featuring original Simple Minds members Derek Forbes and Brian McGee.

Tony Lawrence, 50, of King’s Lynn, said: “It is really good. It is the first time we have been. I think I will definitely come again.”

Part of the festival proceeds will go towards local charities.
