Quartet (12A) brings together many experienced actors in this witty film directed by non-other than Dustin Hoffman. Set in a retirement home for musicians we follow three residents, Reginald, Wilf and Cissy who were part of a celebrated quartet. However the happiness of the home is disrupted when their fourth member, Reg’s ex-wife Jean (Maggie Smith) arrives were she discovers her passion for music again. Maggie Smith brings her signature one-liners delivered with great timing to this warm and gentle comedy, which gives a positive view on how to grow old and enjoy the twilight of your life.

Fans of Tom Cruise will love Jack Reacher (12A), which sees him back in an explosive action role. Jack Reacher, a former Army Officer, is now a ghost to the system and the US government. He comes out of hiding when sniper James Barr, arrested for killing five innocent people, asks for Jack before slipping into a coma. Jack then follows the evidence to prove James Barr’s innocence helped by defence attorney Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike). With action packed sequences, a couple of fist fights, and a haunting opening sequence, audiences will be hooked from the start.

The Milestones Jazz club in Lowestoft is hosting an evening of Jazz on Sunday with the Jim Mullen Organ Trio. One of the most popular bands on the Jazz scene, they will be playing a mix of standard, originals and modern jazz, which will cater for everyone’s tastes. Collectors of vintage items, will not want to miss the vintage interiors and textiles auction at TW Gaze in Diss on Saturday. The auction will include many individual items from a painted galvanised water jug, estimated at £5, to a 1950s lucite handbag from LLewellyn of New York, estimated at £120, with the chance of finding a bargain among many other lots. Saturday is the last chance for you to see Dereham Operatic Society’s panto Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates. It’s set in exotic locations, complete with pirates, treasure, and a bit of adventure and excitement thrown in making this panto fun for all the family. Catchy musical numbers will also have you singing along, so find your treasure map and get yourself over to Dereham Memorial Hall for 3pm. Eaton Concert Series hosts new kid on the scene, pianist Joseph Fleetwood, with his debut appearance at St Andrew’s Church in Eaton. A graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, Joseph has performed throughout the UK, and Europe gaining him status and experience, and has broadcast his talent as part of the BBC Scottish Proms. The performance starts at 3pm on Sunday, with admission on the door costing £7 for adults, £3.50 for students, with accompanied children free.
