With only 43 days until summer officially starts, The Great British Chefs have devised three low-carb alternatives to help you on your journey to a summer body.
I know, I know, the very sight of the phrase ‘Summer Body’ or the notion of pre-holiday dieting is enough to make anyone sigh in despair. But luckily for you, you don’t have to fear - as three more low carb recipes are here!
But with that in mind, what does low-carb entail exactly? Usually, it’s based on the premise that a diet low in carbohydrate will lead to a decrease in the body’s production of insulin. This then results in the fat and protein stores being used as its main energy source, and the person producing ‘ketone bodies’ to fuel parts of the body that can’t use fat as an energy source - particularly the brain and red blood cells.
And while this may seem daunting to some, you’d be surprised at what deliciously satisfying these dishes are. Not only are they an excellent source of nutrition, but they’re full in flavour too.
So why not ditch the ‘tomorrow’ attitude of clean food, and try out Tom Aiken’s Beetroot and Feta salad as a starter, and either Adam Gray’s chicken with ‘njuda, rocket and green beans or Geoffrey Smeddle’s Skate Wings as a main?
