Diners at a Cromer bistro will be treated to a session of comedy and “gorgeousness” at a special ladies’ night with a difference.
The Old Rock Shop Bistro on Hamilton Road will be hosting an evening with Cromer actress Bev Bishop, behind the larger-than-life character Tina Bradshaw, on Thursday March 27 from 6.45pm.
Ms Bishop has won a regional award for her glittery girl-power creation, which combines entertainment with empowerment.
A two-hour mini show, Tina’s Pop In, is billed as “somewhere between an Ann Summers party, a cabaret performance, and a self-help group session.”
It offers guidance and advice on “feeling gorgeous”, treatments such as shoulder massage, foot spa and nail bar, and glitzy make-overs encouraging people to try something different - mostly involving pinkness and fake gems and having a laugh.
Ms Bishop, 44, a former director of the Sheringham Little Theatre, created the Tina character about four years ago, based on a woman she watched in a pub in her native Hull.
Tina has now evolved into a one-woman improvised show which tours people’s homes, private parties, and public places ranging from Cromer Pier to Norwich Market.
“It is all about encouraging people to feel gorgeous. People find it lifts their spirits, gets them thinking more about themselves, which there is not always time for in today’s world, and helps them talk to strangers.
“It gives them confidence and empowerment, so it is social therapy as well as entertainment,” Ms Bishop said.
