Following on from the success of last year’s productions of Godspell and Blitz!, a cast of 40 will be creating an enchanted fairy tale world in Saffron Walden Town Hall, with the musical based on the award-winning Disney cartoon.

In the process, SWMTC Youth Group promises to transform the town hall into an enchanted Disney castle.

The production – by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice – is a stage adaptation of the Disney animated film, which was first performed on stage in 1994.

Writer Menken’s other hits include the stage musical Little Shop of Horrors, plus music for the Disney films The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Enchanted.

Based on the traditional fairy tale, it tells the story of the beautiful Belle and her growing love for the grotesque beast.

The story contains magic, enchanted objects and spectacular song and dance numbers – making it an ideal family show for audiences of all ages.

The musical contains all the well-known songs from the original cartoon, including the show-stopping numbers Beauty and the Beast and Be Our Guest. The Disney cartoon won Oscars for Best Song and Best Original Score. It was also the first animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Don’t miss your chance to see SWMTC Youth Group transform Saffron Walden Town Hall into a magical fairy tale castle! Tickets, which start from £7, can be bought from the Tourist Information Centre in Saffron Walden.
