Time is running out to buy cheaper tickets for this summer’s last night of the proms-style event at Blickling Hall.
Concert-goers have until the end of the month, January 31, to snap up tickets at £29 for the popular British Proms extravaganza, which includes choreographed fireworks and a spitfire display.
This year’s third Blickling Proms, again supported by the North Norfolk News’ sister paper the EDP, takes place on August 9 in the grounds of the National Trust’s stately home near Aylsham, and revellers are invited to bring along a picnic and dress up if they wish.
The Revival Productions show will commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, with a first half featuring a nostalgic sing-along to some of the best-loved songs from that era, including It’s a long way to Tipperary, Keep the Home Fires Burning and Pack up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag.
The second half will contain a poignant remembrance before the patriotic strains of Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, and Land of Hope and Glory, accompanied by a sea of waving Union flags. The Sinfonia Viva orchestra will provide the music, with mezzo soprano Jessica Walker, under conductor Roderick Dunk. Talented aviatrix Carolyn Grace will once again thrill the crowds with her “dancing” spitfire, which loops and swoops in unison with the orchestra playing below.
Mrs Grace plans her manoeuvres by first listening to a CD of the music with a stopwatch. On the day she wears a watch on each wrist and a stopwatch on her arm. The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display over the lake.
Early bird tickets at £29 are available at www.revival-productions.co.uk – promo code Spitfire for those booking online – or from the box office on 01263 734711; group discounts of up to 20pc are also available. From February 1 tickets will cost £33 (£36 on the night). Parking at the event is free for cars and coaches.
