Kiss of Death is the second of five productions for this year’s Sheringham Little Theatre summer repertory season.

It will be shown from tomorrow until Thursday August 7 (no Sunday performance) at 8pm with a 2.30pm matinée on Tuesday August 5.

Kiss of Death is written by Simon Williams and has been directed by Warren Catherine, who directed the intense Blackout show last year.

The production is a cutting edge mystery of a serial killer who is on the loose.

Debbie Thompson, Sheringham Little Theatre director, said: “It’s a mammoth challenge for any actor and one that this year’s cast are thrilled to get their teeth into.”

The story follows actress Zoe Lang, played by Sheringham newcomer Emma Barron, as she arrives for her latest audition.

But she soon learns the role in question is that of runaway Natasha and that she will be bait for a killer in a final, desperate bid to catch him.

Kiss of Death is one of the darkest and most menacing productions that Sheringham Little Theatre has ever produced.

The piece is also unique in its use of technology and mixed media within the live action, allowing it to take on an extra dimension.

Mrs Thompson added the piece had lighter moments and was peppered with humour to relieve the tension and develop the characters.

“We wanted to try something new and quite radical with this production. While we have done thrillers in the past, this is perhaps the most unsettling and caustic piece that we have staged so far.

“We can’t wait to see what audiences think of it – it’s certainly not for the faint of heart and we know it will be absolutely riveting,” she said.

The other summer repertory productions will be the farce Caught In The Net running from Saturday August 9 until Thursday August 21; comedy Neville’s Island running from Saturday August 23 until Saturday August 30; and the gothic tale The Mystery Of Irma Vep running from Tuesday September 2 until Saturday September 6.
