A production of the musical Footloose by North Walsham High School is running at the Atrium venue on the school campus.

It tells the story of Chicago city boy Ren arriving in small-town Beaumont and bringing dance back into heart of a tragedy-hit community.

The plot is laced with classic music from the era including Holding Out For A Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and the title track.

Ren is played by Oliver Westlake guesting from Paston Sixth Form College, while the female lead Ariel is Daneille Lee and Josh Duckmanton plays the preacher.

The production involves about 50 students, 40 of them on stage, and followed the success of the school’s production of Grease last year, said acting deputy head Dominic James. The show runs until Friday. Tickets £8 adults, £5 children, students and over-60s. Call the box office 01692 400080 or visit theatrium.org.uk,
