Over 75 young tennis players have been assessed for Norfolk team selections at East Anglia Tennis & Squash Club in Norwich.
Norfolk LTA coaches cast their eyes over the players, aged between 12 and 18, at the Lime Tree Road club last Sunday after the players had been nominated by club coaches.
The first event any of the Norfolk teams will be competing in is the Under-18 County Cup, starting on February 27, 2015.
During the ‘sifting’ day players, parents and coaches enjoyed a barbecue and Norfolk LTA junior teams manager, Neil Plaskett, was also able to present the annual junior county tennis awards.
Plaskett said: “It was great to see so many players and parents in Norfolk attending the NLTAs first sifting day. Was nice to see new faces involved in the county set up. It was evident that the players wanted to be selected by the captains for there relevant county teams.
“Our aim is to raise the standard of the county set up and push to make Norfolk a successful county once again.”
The 12-and-under Performance Awards went to Emily Barrett and Scott Whiting, while the 18-and-under Performance Awars went to Will Foster and Talitha Rowan, who also won the Brian Blincoe Award for achievement beyond expectation at the County Championships.
The Junior Achievement Awards, based on rankings, went to Monica Raviraj and Danni Long-Martinez, and 18-and-under County Colours were presented to Katie McKenna, Talitha Rowan, Katherine Barnes, Alex McNaughton, Tom Watkinson and Michael Tudor.
