Mike Derbyshire hopes to mark the first anniversary of the start of his turbulent reign at the Wellesley by completing an unprecedented hat-trick tomorrow.

Buoyed by wins over Stowmarket and March, Yarmouth Town's boss would love nothing more than to underscore the mini-revival by completing a rare treble with a win over visitors Newmarket.

The Jockeys dropped from the ECL Premier Division with Town last season, but are flying high after a summer cash injection and will be a different proposition to the side Yarmouth beatin the final game last season for only their second win of a nightmare campaign.

Derbyshire believes the game, and a home clash against Swaffham on Tuesday and a trip to Downham Market next Saturday, will be important yardsticks.

'The next seven days will be an indicator of where we are in terms of mounting a challenge for this season. We have just had a couple of wins. We are finding our feet in Division One and are in mid-table. Now is the time to see if we can push on.'

Striker Mitch Forbes, who felt unwell in the warm-up last Saturday and was only able to play 15 minutes as a substitute, will be available to start, while midfielder Fernando Vide, the team's longest-sering player, is available again.

The Bloaters have been boosted after main sponsor Mike Smith, of DSL, confirmed his cash backing for the rest of the season with the potential to continue next season. The Yarmouth businessman's five-figure cash injection was hailed as 'a lifesaver' last year and he had pledged to continue only if he liked what he saw.
