Wymondham's Debbie Sparham, Laura Hawksworth, Chris Mann and Jon Sparham are the new Norfolk Mixed Fours Champions after defeating Kerry Greenacre, Mike Greenacre, Lesley Crowe and John Jarvis 10-5 in the final.

Five shots picked up on the second end put the Wymondham rink in control early on and a brace picked up on the next end saw them go 7-1 up and there was no way back for Jarvis and his rink.

The third fourth play-off was played between defending champions Jenny Walker, Donna Lamb, Keith Cooke and David Lamb who beat Jean Woods, Elaine Willies, Jason Woods and Simon Willies 12-2.

In the Norfolk heat of the national Under 18s Qualifier Halvergate's Ryan Fox clinched his place at Tamworth, beating Thetford's Kieran Suffolk.

The ESMBA has released the allocations for National Championship places. As in recent years Norfolk has been allocated the maximum four entries in the Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours Championships.

In the National Mixed Fours Norfolk has received two entries but just one in the National Under 18s. In the new National Over 55s Pairs Norfolk has received an allocation of two places.

Two big beasts of Norfolk's short mat bowls scene clashed at Drayton where Bob Carter entertained Halvergate in the quarter-finals of the Norwich Cup. Carter enjoyed a great start in the triples with Robert Howlett beating Robbie Lamb 10-4 and Melvin Woods beating Morgan Warnes 8-6. The first pairs session was shared with Carter's Jason Woods & Simon Willies winning by 6-3 against Josh Baxter & David Lamb while Halvergate secured their first win of the night courtesy of Robin Amos & Keith Cooke who beat Jamie Forster & Gary Best by 10-4 which left Carter with a healthy 6-2 points advantage at the interval.

Back came the triples for their second games and Halvergate's Morgan Warnes earned an 8-5 victory against Rob Howlett while Carter's Melvin Woods beat Robbie Lamb 9-5. Still trailing by four points Halvergate needed to win both of the last pairs games and make up a six shot deficit if they were to progress into the semi-finals but while Robin Amos & Keith Cooke produced their second big win of the night Josh Baxter & David Lamb went down against Jamie Forster & Gary Best to leave Carter safely through.

Forncett are well known for some giant killing performances in the Norwich Cup over the years and after defeating South Norfolk League giants Hempnall in the last round they entertained Breckland League giants Wymondham in the quarter-finals. The visitors were determined not to be the latest victims though and gave themselves a huge boost blowing Forncett away in the opening triples session. Billie Barker, Brian Saunders & Chris Mann stormed to a 14-3 win against Peter Lock's triple while Lauren Swann, Melvyn Barker & Mark 'Sparky' Linsdell beat Rebecca Humphreys' triple 9-2. Forncett immediately hit back in the first pairs session to let Wymondham know that this was to be no easy ride. Bryan Preece & Tony Ottewell beat Norfolk Squad players John Jeffery & Jon Sparham 12-7 while Linda Preece & Martin Humphreys levelled the match beating Roger Steele & Debbie Sparham 8-6. The second triples session was shared leaving everything resting on the outcome of the final pairs session.

John Jeffery & Jon Sparham dug deep to record a vital 8-4 win against Linda Preece & Martin Humphreys and, despite Bryan Preece & Tony Ottewell winning the other pairs game 7-3, Wymondham emerged winners on shots by 64-52 after the match finished level on points at 8-8.

Horsford Heroes have reached the final of the Bure Cup where they will play the winners of the East Tuddenham v Halvergate semi-final. After doing the hard work in the first leg at Windows by winning 14-10 Horsford Heroes did just enough in the second leg which was drawn 12-12. Carol Aggas, Peter Fox & John Aggas scored wins of 11-1, 8-7 & 4-2 while John Proctor, Richard Dix & Vic Webster also won all their three games by 10-3, 4-3 & 7-3 to collect all the 12 points the Heroes needed.
