Swaffham Town hot-shot Joe Jackson has turned down an approach from Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Thetford Town.

The Pedlars striker, who has scored two hat-tricks in four First Division games this term, told Thetford boss Mark Scott on Twitter he appreciated his interest but was 'going to stay at Swaffham'.

Jackson bagged a treble during his side's 5-0 victory at Stowmarket Town on Saturday and Swaffham boss Paul Hunt admits he is delighted about his frontman's decision.

The Pedlars boss said: 'Jacko's put in two and half years of hard work to make him the player he is today. It's about sticking with players through the hard times and working on the unpolished diamonds.

'He's had a really good spell at the start of the season and some clubs often look for that instant hit. I told Jacko about the seven-day approach before their manager went public on Twitter, which I don't think is a great route to go down.

'Jacko's not interested in leaving. He's really enjoying himself here and has brought into our ethos. We want to move forward as a club and Jacko's another player who is a big part of that.'

Rory Harper also netted twice during fifth-placed Swaffham's win. The in-form Pedlars welcome unbeaten Braintree Town Reserves, who are fourth, on Saturday.

Downham Town travel to Whitton United on the back of a good 2-2 draw at Brightlingsea Regent.

Assistant manager Pete Brassett said: 'Nobody outside of our dressing room thought we would get anything at Brightlinsea. We put in a fantastic performance.

'We're a bit gutted we didn't get all three points as we conceded an injury-time equaliser. But it was a good point and we'll need the same sort of performance to get anything from Whitton.'

Weekend goalscorers Sam Hanslip and Matthew Bussens and Simon Bird are unavailable while Kyran Stannard has joined King's Lynn Town Reserves. However, Matt Dye, Dale Twaite-Smith and Luke Plumb all return while goalkeeper Lee Brooks has returned to the club from Peterborough Northern Star and may also feature.

Premier Division Wisbech Town set up a FA Cup First Qualifying Round clash with Kettering Town by beating Yaxley 3-0. Chris Bacon, Matt Lunn and Adam Millson scored for the Fenmen, who travel to Brantham Athletic on Saturday.

Lynn Reserves, who host Holbeach United Reserves this weekend (noon), drew 0-0 at Netherton United Reserves.
