Wensum E's 7-3 victory over Gothic B means they are just one point away from the top of the Premier B table.

It was a tough match and Paul Speakman had to work extremely hard to win his three singles – all went to five games. Tie of the night was Arpad Berger beating Paul Pegg 11-9 in the fifth.

Draw specialists Foxwood D had their fifth win of the season against Taverham A, with Ian Taylor and Robert King getting a brace of singles each and teaming up for a good doubles win. Foxwood B beat Wensum F 6-4, with Wensum's Dominic Stokes and Liam Pye's victories in the singles earning their team a point. The 1-9 scoreline for St Faiths Centre against Harriers B did not reflect the standard in a highly competitive evening, but Harriers always had the edge.

Returners A took over top spot in Division One with a whitewash at Rosebery Road. Despite some spirited table tennis from Richard Yates and Vernon Everitt it proved an uphill struggle against a consistent Returners team who eventually took all 10 matches.

Maximums from Stuart Cooper and Kevin Armstrong saw Foxwood F home 7-3 against Wensum G. A doubles win for Mark Annetts and Tony Parks and a singles win each secured a point for Wensum G. Hospital Drifters went down 4-6 to Foxwood G. Two wins each for Julia Andrew, Lindsay Horstead and Seamus Chambers got their New Year off to a winning start. Norfolk County Council A beat Gothic C 6-4 in a match that turned one way and then another before Gothic won the doubles to seal victory.

In Division Two the highlight was Fourbees B's draw with high-flying Dynamic Rams. The match was memorable for Steve Gurton's double loss for the first time this season.Fourbees players Jordan Howard and Geoff Critten beat Steve in two close five-setters to earn the draw. Foxwood H started the year with a fine 9-1 win over bottom club Wensum H. Leaders The Originals won two excellent four pointers, 8-2 over Returners B and 9-1 against a three-man Taverham C side. Harriers B won 7-3 against Ex Choristers where a brace by Steve Smith and a last-game win by Dave Beane earned a point. Missionaries, with Andy Watson outstanding, were too strong for Gothic D, winning 8-2. CEYMS F moved up the table with a close 6-4 win over Fourbees A.

In Division Three, Taverham D took on their younger club-mates and used their experience to gain four points with a 10-0 win. Blazing Paddles entertained Wensum J and went down 1-9.
