Wroxham boss David Batch insists his side have achieved nothing yet as they look to write some FA Trophy headlines of their own by dumping Canvey Island out of the competition tonight.

The Yachtsmen welcome Ryman Premier Division Island to Trafford Park for an FA Vase First Qualifying Round Replay after drawing 0-0 in Essex against their higher-level opponents on Saturday.

However, Batch, pictured, admits he has been puzzled by those who believe his Step Four club have excelled already by forcing Steve Tilson's outfit to make an unexpected trip to Norfolk.

And the Wroxham manager remains adamant his players' exploits can only be judged fully once they've played at least their 180th minute against the famous non-league club.

Batch said: 'I had a few people saying 'congratulations, well done' after Saturday and I struggled to comprehend it because we haven't done anything.

'We've drawn a game of football. We're still in the tie which is the most important thing in cup football and that's that. We haven't won anything so I was puzzled. We've just got another chance to beat them – probably in surroundings and a setting that many think will give us more of a chance - but that's all it is. We have another opportunity.'

Remy Gordon and Ben Jones spurned second-half opportunities as the village club pushed the Conference set-up chasing Canvey all the way. Experienced keeper Scott Howie kept a clean sheet but will be replaced by number one Michael Hilton, while Matt Daniels is also unavailable.

'Saturday was a game we knew Michael would miss as it was a prior engagement,' said Batch.

'Scott's 41, hadn't kicked a ball since the end of last season, and kept a clean sheet at a Ryman Premier Division club. To be fair he didn't have too much to do but it just shows the class of the guy.

'We had a way of approaching the game and it worked pretty well on Saturday. I think we had the chances to make it work even better because we had a couple of opportunities I think we should have done better with. We expect them being from a level higher to be coming here expecting to win the game. We'll need the players to be giving sevens (rating) out of 10s, with a few 8s - which we didn't have on Saturday - for us to stand a chance.'

Wroxham's incentive for victory this evening is not only 2,550 prize money but an away tie at same-level Uxbridge or Royston Town in the next round.

While Batch concedes he didn't even know who his side could face in the next round until he was told by a radio reporter, one man who was watching the second qualifying round draw eagerly was Gary Setchell. The King's Lynn Town boss was hoping for a home tie, after seeing off higher-level Barwell 1-0 at The Walks, and he got it with Ryman Premier Division strugglers Carshalton Athletic drawn to visit Tennyson Road on October 27.

The Lynn boss said: 'It's terrific to be at home again but obviously people must not get carried away - they're a Step Three side. Yes, they've not won a game in the league so far but they've had three very good draws against Lewes, Bury (Town) and East Thurrock. Just because we beat Barwell doesn't give us the right to think we'll beat Carshalton.

'Saturday was a special performance and you'll get four, five or six of them a year at most. We'll have to produce the same, if not more again, because it'll be tough.'

Lowestoft Town will be hoping to bounce back from their FA Trophy defeat against Lewes at the weekend when they entertain Brantham Athletic at home in the first round of the Suffolk Premier Cup.
