Winger Jake Jones admits he enjoyed a perfect return to King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.
The talented former Tamworth player – who this week signed for the Linnets less than a fortnight after his loan spell at the club ended – helped inspire Gary Setchell’s men to a 3-1 home victory over Buxton. The 20-year-old played a part in the second goal, scored the third with his weaker right foot, and picked up the sponsor’s man of the match award. But the wideman insists he was just more pleased to be a part of Lynn’s fourth successive Evo-Stik Premier Division victory.
Jones said: “I’m happy. I was hoping to come back and make a difference and I feel I have. I’ve always enjoyed it down here. It felt like I hadn’t been away. The lads are brilliant. I don’t know how I’ve hit it (goal) with my right foot and I think it bobbled over the keeper’s arms but I’ll take ‘em. I came in at half-time and Rossi (McNeil, coach), said to me, ‘shoot, you’ve had a few opportunities to shoot on your right foot, so shoot’ so I came out and done that. It was more of a swinger as I’ve got nothing in my right foot so it was nice to see it go in, especially now I’ve signed a permanent deal, and it was nice to get a goal and get a win.”
Ewan Clarke and George Thomson also notched for Lynn who now sit fourth.
