As the England team set to jet back from Brazil, for people at home the summer holidays have officially begun.
Supporters suffering from the doom and gloom of England's early exit are taking to travel websites to book their vacations out of the country.
The travel site GoEuro.co.uk revealed a 4.5% increase in bookings since England fell to a 2-1 defeat against Uruguay.
The site, which compares flight, train and bus prices, also said there has been a similar increase in Spain ever since the reigning world champions exited the tournament.
This compares to countries whose World Cup chances are still alive where rates remain flat.
An opposite trend has been spotted in Scandinavian and Eastern European countries where national teams did not qualify.
Growth in holiday bookings in countries such as Sweden and Norway has remained at 5.6 per cent throughout the duration of the tournament.
Naren Shaam, CEO of GoEuro, said: 'The travel sector is aware that fans prefer to stay in their home cities to support their national team.
'Nevertheless, the industry is always prepared when disappointed fans need a holiday to forget their football sorrows.'
