Diss Town are seeking their third manager of the season after Chris Tracey quit the club.

The Tangerines’ boss decided to end his short tenure at Brewers Green Lane following Saturday’s lacklustre 3-1 home defeat to relegation rivals Ely City.

The loss leaves the Norfolk outfit sitting just two points outside of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division drop zone with just 10 matches to play.

A club spokesman, in a statement released on Town’s website, said: “Chris Tracey has resigned from his position as Diss Town Football Club first team manager.

“The officers of the club would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for the work he has done over the past few months as first team manager and before that date as assistant manager - we wish him well for the future.

“First team coach David Coyle will prepare and take charge of the team for Saturday’s match at Brightlingsea.”

Tracey took over from Richard Daniels in October after overseeing a month period as interim manager. He has endured a troubled time at the helm since failing to win any of the last 11 games – which included an 11-0 Boxing Day humiliation at home to Walsham-le-Willows.

Daniels called time on his near year-long tenure suggesting he had fallen out of love with being in the dugout after six years of Thurlow Nunn League management. He helped the club avoid relegation last term and left Town in 13th. They have slipped three places since then.

Rumours have been circulating for a while that former boss, and ex-Kirkley & Pakefield chief, Paul Tong may be standing by to replace Tracey if chairman Dick Upson wielded his axe. However, another name strongly linked with the vacancy is Mike Derbyshire. He was surprisingly sacked by First Division Great Yarmouth Town earlier this year.
