Gorleston will be aiming to keep their outside hopes of winning the title alive while damaging the dreams of one of their main championship rivals.
The Greens, fourth, have vowed to fight to the death to try and win the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division. They beat league leaders Hadleigh United 3-1 on Saturday to move four points off the top. But, with a game in hand, and five fixtures left to play, Stewart Larter insists his men have not given up on reaching the summit.
The Gorleston boss, whose side host Brightlingsea Regent, third, this afternoon, said: “We have to try and win as many football matches as we can. If we win the league, that’s fantastic. It’s not in our hands but to have a chance of winning two trophies (league and Norfolk Senior Cup) with six games of the season left, you can’t ask for anything more than that.”
Relegation threatened Diss host Brantham Athletic while Thetford, who have dropped into the bottom three, visit Mildenhall. Kirkley & Pakefield travel to Clacton and Norwich United welcome Newmarket. In the First Division, Fakenham know three more wins, starting at home to fellow promotion hopefuls Ipswich Wanderers, will see them go up. Top-three chasing Swaffham are relying on slip-ups and must realistically beat Saffron Walden. Improving Downham host bottom side Cornard.
