The final round of Thurlow Nunn Premier Division matches will be played today but Gorleston will not be challenging for the title.

Their hopes were ended on Wednesday night in a 4-2 loss at Stanway Rovers, having been 2-1 up with just eight minutes to go, despite only having 10 men.

The Greens, who have already announced they will not pursue promotion, are three points off the top but with an inferior goal-difference.

They are away at mid-table Brantham Athletic today and still have the Norfolk Senior Cup final against Wroxham at Carrow Road to look forward to on May 15.

Norwich United have finished sixth but will be looking to extend a 14-match unbeaten run at Brightlingsea Regent, who are already promoted.

With CRC to drop out of the league, the relegation picture is not clear.

Diss Town are third from bottom and in the relegation zone but a point at already-relegated Wivenhoe Town could be enough to drop Ely City into the bottom three instead, who host bottom-of-the-table Woodbridge Town.

Thetford Town are just a point above Ely, so a win at FC Clacton would ensure their safety.

The First Division finished last week, with Great Yarmouth Town in eighth place. The Bloaters have announced they are taking applications for their first-team manager’s post.

Lee Hackleton, who took over from Mike Derbyshire just a few months ago on an interim basis, will reapply for the position.

Hackleton, who won over 50pc of his games, said: “I understand that Yarmouth as a club have got to weigh up their options but I’ve made it clear I’d like to take the job on a full-time basis. I want to help move this club forward.”
