Struggling Downham Town have finally ended their five-month search for a new manager.

The Thurlow Nunn First Division basement boys have been without a boss since Pete Brassett resigned in early September. But this morning the club announced that former Diss Town first-team coach Mark Reeve has taken over from caretakers George Dickson and Craig Whylie.

A Town spokesman said: “Mark comes with having had experience as assistant manager at Reepham, where his achievements were gaining promotion from Anglian Combination Division One, and first team coach at Diss. He has a wealth of experience in dealing with young players due to his full-time job as managing director of a sports company whereby he oversees, plans and delivers football apprenticeships for young adults aged between 16 and 19.”

Reeve oversaw his first game on Saturday as Town slipped to their 19th defeat of the league season. That 3-0 loss at Great Yarmouth Town leaves Downham with a paltry total of just eight points from their 23 fixtures this term.
