King’s Lynn Town yesterday announced Reeds Homestore would be the club’s new ‘top-tier’ sponsor for next season.

Reeds of Downham Market and Ely have signed an initial one-year deal to sponsor the Linnets with the option of continuing their support into a second season.

Linnets chairman Keith ‘Buster’ Chapman said: “It is a real boost for the club to secure a top-tier sponsor for the up and coming season.

“It’s a big step up for us in the new league (Evo-Stik Division One South) and hopefully with the support of Reeds Homestore we can make a real success of it. I hope that our fans as well as the club can also benefit from their support and use the special offers Reeds may offer them during the season.”

Reeds are thought to have paid a five-figure sum to become Lynn’s main sponsors and will have their name on the club’s shirts, and on boards at The Walks stadium, as a result.

The company, often refereed to as ‘The Harrods of the Fens’ already sponsor the under-10 and under-13 teams at Hindolveston Youth Football Club, near Dereham.

Owner and managing director Jim Carlile said: “I’m absolute delighted at this tie up with the premier sports club in West Norfolk and believe we will have a very happy and enjoyable relationship with the Linnets.

“We have many shared values: the club is family owned, as is Reeds, it encourages family participation and plays a positive role within the community. I look forward to getting to know the whole team at the club, both on and off the pitch, over the coming season.”

All supporters at Lynn’s first home league game of the season will receive an exclusive Linnets Loyalty Card, which will entitle fans to discounts in the Reeds stores in Downham and Ely.

In other off-the-field news, King’s Lynn announced their admission prices for next season yesterday.

Tickets have been separated into three categories meaning adult prices will rise by £2, to £10, for league matches (category B), but fall by £1 for friendlies, league cup and county cup ties (category C).

A club spokesman said: “Football clubs have for many years relied on wealthy benefactors to fuel their growth, often leading to an unfortunate outcome for the club and its supporters when these have decided to leave.

“King’s Lynn Town FC is proud to be different and aims to remain sustainable and continue its growth purely from the revenue generated through ticket sales, sponsorship and other auxiliary incomes.

“The 2012/2013 admission prices have been separated into three categories and have been set to balance the additional travel expenses in the Evo-Stick First Division South and an increased playing budget to provide a competitive team.

“To continue encouraging families to support the club we are pleased to offer free entry to children 11 years and under to all league games and friendlies.

“Supporters who wish to purchase a season ticket will save nearly 15pc off the normal admission price over 21 league games and also receive other selected benefits.”

Lynn’s first pre-season friendly of the season at Yaxley last night was postponed due to an “unplayable pitch”. The game, still away, has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
